10th ASEAN Quiz National Level Competition held in Yangon

The 10th ASEAN Quiz-National Level Competition was held yesterday morning at the Myanma Radio and Television in Yangon.
The competition was attended by officials from relevant departments, teachers from basic education schools, parents/guardians of participating students, ten students representing states/regions, and basic education students.
It is reported that the first prize was won by Maung Pyae Sone Chan Thar from BEHS (1) Dagon; the second prize by Maung Hein Lin Htet from BEHS (1) Dagon; the third prize by Ma Hnin Pwint Aung from BEHS (1) pa-an; the fourth prize by Ma May Thae Phyu Ohn from BEHS (8) Aungmyethazan (Mandalay); the fifth prize by Ma Shoon Lei Wai from BEHS (1) Dagon. The winners were awarded by Director-General U Ye Naing.
The ASEAN Quiz is being hosted once every two years by the ASEAN countries since 2020, to enhance the ASEAN countries’ cultural, political, economic and social knowledge off the new generation of ASEAN youth and promote friendly relations and understanding between ASEAN countries. The event was held online in 2020 due to the COVID-19, and this year Myanmar is planning to host the event in person, according to the decision of the ASEAN countries since the COVID-19 outbreak is under control with the vaccination.
To represent Myanmar in the ASEAN Regional Level Competition, a list of 43 students representing regions and states has been submitted to the Ministry of Education.
The Department of Basic Education selected 34 students, of which 5 were shortlisted. They will be trained in a training camp and will be selected three of them to represent the country in the ASEAN Regional Championship. — MNA
