12 collisions on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway result in 11 fatalities, 5 injuries in Feb

The Yangon-Mandalay Expressway experienced a total of 12 accidents resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 15 others, as reported by the Expressway Police statistics.
Vehicle crashes have resulted in the loss of seven men and five women, with the total value of damage estimated at K14.15 million.
As per the latest available data, a total of 169 traffic accidents occurred on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in 2022. These incidents left 57 dead and 280 hurt.
Speed limits on the highway have been set as follows: small cars are permitted to travel at a maximum speed of 100 kilometres per hour, while passenger vehicles are limited to 90 kilometres per hour. Commercial trucks and Hijet vehicles have a speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour according to the Myanmar National Road Safety Council. — TWA/KZW
