Over 160 tonnes of illegal Kanyin timber confiscated in Katha

Authorities have confiscated more than 160 tonnes of Kanyin timber near Thapyaypin Village, Katha Township, Sagaing Region, on 18 March, according to the Katha Township Forest Department.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of officers and staff from the Katha Township Forest Department raided the Wai Inn riverside place near Thapyaypin Village, Katha Township, and seized 107 logs of Kanyin timber, weighing 160.016 tonnes, said U Tin Tun, head of the township Forest Department.
The authorities plan to move the timber to a safe place.—Maung Chit Lin (Indaw)
