18th Myanmar-China Drug Control Cooperation Meeting held virtually

The eighteenth Myanmar-China Drug Control Cooperation meeting is in progress online.

The 18th Myanmar-China Bilateral Meeting on Drug Control Cooperation hosted by the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) of Myanmar was held virtually in Nay Pyi Daw yesterday.
At the meeting, the leader of the Myanmar delegation, Police Brig-Gen Win Naing, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control and Commander of the Drug Enforcement Division, said the drug problem is one of the biggest problems in all countries. He then said the easy buying of new homemade drugs cause to be exacerbating and the drug trafficking was carried out by telecommunications, private courier services, and cargo transport services mainly through the sea route, according to arrests.

He also discussed the online drug market widely penetrated through online banking services with the technological progress and traffickers take advantage of the increasing number of jobless people in the global economic crisis by giving transport fees for the narcotic trade.
He also highlighted Myanmar is carrying out effective cooperation with the neighbouring countries, regional countries, world countries and international organizations in implementing drug control measures and an important plan to crack down on the increasing precursor chemicals trade.
He discussed the need to continue increasing special operations in cooperation with regional countries and expected the two countries (Myanmar-China) would achieve great success with cooperation and common goals and actions.
In the meeting, the Chinese delegation led by Mr Liang Yun, Executive Secretary-General for NNCC and Director-General for NCB participated and also discussed the cooperation work to arrest the fugitives, further cooperation, preventive measures for illegal precursor chemicals and matters related to the 19th bilateral meeting to be hosted by China (NNCC). — MNA
