2022 inter-region/state U-19 men’s football tournament opening ceremony held

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Inter-Region/State U-19 Men’s Football Tournament, jointly organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Myanmar Football Federation, was held yesterday afternoon at Wunna Theikdi Football Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.
Members of the State Administration Council U Khin Maung Swe, Daw Aye Nu Sein, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, U Moung Har, U Sai Lon Hsai, Saw Daniel, Dr Banya Aung Moe and U Shwe Kyein, Union Ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Deputy Ministers, departmental officials, administrators and coaches of the competing teams, athletes and football fans attended the ceremony.
First, Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan said that the competition is held with the aim of improving the standard of football sport in Myanmar and producing new footballers continuously, promoting unity among football players from various states and regions, as well as the union spirit.
He said that the goal of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs is to achieve a successful position in Southeast Asia and the Asian region in order to raise the standard of Myanmar football. For the Myanmar national football team to achieve success, the ministry is continuously holding state and regional youth football tournaments that will strengthen the Myanmar national team.
Under the guidance of the head of state, it is an important responsibility to achieve the success of Myanmar football sports, and all are seriously working to develop a winning plan, he continued.
As the State is providing support for sports, the sportspersons also need to respect the state’s gratitude and not do any actions that will discredit the country’s image, he urged.
He also called on the athletes to compete in a clean manner and full spirit of sportsmanship, and for referees to be free from bias and observe the set regulations.
After the ceremony, SAC members and the party warmly greeted the administrators and athletes of the competing teams and enjoyed the Nay Pyi Taw team and Kachin State team’s match, the opening match of the U-19 football tournament.
The 2022 Inter-State/Region U-19 Men’s Football Tournament will be held from 20 July to 3 August at the Wunna Theikdi Football Stadium. A total of 325 athletes from 14 competing teams will compete, and those who are interested in playing football can come and watch for free, it is reported. — MNA
