22nd coordination meeting of Union Supreme Court with State/Region High Courts, Self-Administered Division Court, Self-Administered Zone Courts, District Courts held online

Chief Justice of the Union Supreme Court U Htun Htun Oo attended the 22nd virtual coordination meeting of the Union Supreme Court with the State/Region High Courts, Self-Administered Division Court, Self-Administered Zone Courts and District Courts online yesterday.
During the meeting, the Chief Justice of the Union said the courts should examine the cases as quickly as possible and make fair and right decisions. The higher courts need to supervise the low-rank court to complete the cases quickly.
Moreover, it also should scrutinize whether the low-rank courts make fair and right decisions in line with the law and should correct the wrong things. Only then, there would be right and fair judgements in line with the law.
The efforts should be made for the proceedings heard at the separate courts to complete without any delays. Being government employees, they should show loyalty to the country, responsibility, respect and unity. All should try hard to compete in the fifth year (2022) of the Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022).
Between 1 January and 31 December 2021, the Union Supreme Court received 566 criminal cases and completed 1,051 cases (including the remaining 485 cases of last year) while there were 1,107 civil suits and completed 1,494 cases (including the remaining 390 cases of the previous year. The Region/State High Courts received 2,137 criminal cases and heard 3,935 cases (including 1,798 cases of last year). It also accepted 1,689 civil suits and completed 3,875 cases (including 2,186 cases of last year.
The Self-Administered Division, Self-Administered Zones and District Courts had 12,921 criminal cases and finished 13,545 cases (including 624 cases of last year) and also received 7,243 civil lawsuits and completed 6,350 cases.
The township courts accepted 115,798 criminal cases and completed 135,844 cases (including 20,046 cases of last year).
They also received 13,019 civil lawsuits and completed 14,531 cases (including 1,512 cases of last year).
The juvenile court (Yangon and Mandalay) received 290 cases under the Child Law and completed 388 cases (including 98 cases of last year).
The Municipal Court (Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay) accepted 1,790 cases under the Municipal Law and completed 1,859 cases (including 69 cases of last year).
The Motor Vehicle Court (Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay) completed 29,379 traffic rules violations.
