A free educational training course for those interested in Japanese and Korean languages will be opened at the Singapore monastery at Ward 5, Pazundaung Township, from 7 September, according to Sayadaw U Sobita from the monastery.
In the course EPS Topik (Part 1), the Korean language will be from 10:30 am to 1 pm, and the Japanese language course N-5 Basic will be opened from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, starting 7 September every Saturday and Sunday for three months, Sayadaw said.
“The main purpose is to open a free education course because the commercial courses are expensive. It is especially aimed at young people who want to work abroad. They are mostly interested in going to Korea and Japan. Currently, there are about 60 people who have registered for the two courses. There are people who will attend the course on the opening day, so we will only know the exact number of attendees then. Attendees will be given the books that are left in the monastery, and those who do not get these books can buy them in the market,” Sayadaw said.
There is no limit on the number of trainees or age, and they will be accepted depending on the size of the space. Pieces of vinyl on this course have been posted at some bus stops and busy locations, and those interested can contact 09 798183995 and 09 783009675. The course was resumed in 2023 after it had been closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak on 23 March 2020. – MT/ZN
