KBZ Bank Ltd has donated 10 billion Kyats for the relief and rehabilitation of people in flood-hit areas in Myanmar during September 2024.
In order to provide effective support in this donation, KBZ is carrying out in a wide-scope manner through its branches, bank employees, and local and foreign networks of social and business partners.
100 bank branches across Myanmar have been designated as emergency aid stations for various areas affected by natural disasters, and K 100,000,000 per branch has been allocated as initial donation. Bank staffs and townselders are cooperating to provide timely and effective support in flood-hit areas across the country.
Ready-to-eat foods, fish and meat cans, drinking water bottles, BPI oral rehydration salts, essential medicines, ready-to-wear men and women garments, women monthly sanitary pads and blankets have been distributed by trucks to flood victims in the most-severely hit Aungban, Kalaw, Shwenyaung, Nyaungshwe and Inle, Tatkon, Yamethin and Pyawbwe since 10 September due to heavy rains from Yagi typhoon starting 9 September.
In addition, in towns and villages where it is difficult to cook and eat, cooking stations are set up in pavilions to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, and money is transferred through KBZPay to villages close to the victims to arrange and distribute drinking water and meals.
Similarly, Bago, Ayeyawady regions and other areas, which are likely to be flooded, KBZ makes itself ready to provide support and donations for the needs in a timely manner, and the first phase of relief operations will be prioritized, and plans are being drawn up for the second phase of recovery.
KBZ Bank, based on the good experience of relief and rehabilitation gained during the nationwide flood in 2015, is making efforts to provide effective support nationwide in this year flood disaster.
