More than 400 Japanese companies will recruit more than 1700 Myanmar workers, according to the 16 September notification of demand letters issued by the Myanmar Embassy in Japan.
The embassy is verifying the demand letters sent by the Ministry of Labour through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in doing so, it needs to check whether the labour supervision company in Japan and the recruiting factories/companies are legally established in Japan. Its comments and findings are being sent back to the Ministry of Labour through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The demand letters are verified according to the receiving dates in order and details of 415 job offer letters that were sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as of 31 July 2024 have been notified and released.
According to the published list of job offers, 415 Japanese companies are hiring more than 600 Myanmar male workers and more than 1100 female workers. On 30 August, the embassy also announced that more than 430 Japanese companies would recruit more than 1400 Myanmar workers.
At present, most of Myanmar migrant workers go to Thailand, Koreas, Singapore, Japan and the Middle East countries, through official channels.
