4 bodies recovered from boat accident near Bagaya Jetty

According to the rescue workers, four bodies of those missing from the boat accident near Bagaya Jetty, Kyimyindine Township were recovered on 12 July.
“In the current situation, four bodies have been found. Rescue teams have found two bodies at Pazundaung Creek. We do not know whether they are the missing people from the boat accident or not. The weather is rainy, so it is difficult for rescuers to find them,” said a Kyimyindine Township resident.
The dead bodies identify one student, one woman and two men. According to the report that one boat capsized about five nautical furlongs from Bagaya Jetty in Yangon River at 8:10 am on 10 July, search and rescue operations were carried out by rescue vessels from the western district fire stations.
Eight passengers between the ages of 15 and 37, including two 15-year-old students, were saved alive by rescue teams. A total of eight passengers, including a 12-year-old school girl, 16-year-old and 18-year-old school boys, and five passengers between the ages of 20 and 33, are missing as a result of the incident.
The regional government provided K200,000 to the families of the eight missing people and K100,000 to each of the rescued people.
Regarding the boat accident, the Jetty in charge and the boat driver are being investigated by the relevant authorities. — TWA/KZL
