45th GMS Tourism Working Group convenes videoconference

The Tourism Working Group of the Greater Mekong Subregion held its 45th meeting on videoconference on 18 June afternoon.
Director-General U Maung Maung Kyaw from the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism under the this ministry chaired the meeting which was attended by tourism authorities of the six GMS member countries China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as Director Mr Alfredo Perdiguero from the Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division of Asia Development Bank, Unit Head Mr Steven Schipani from the Project Administration Department, Executive Director Mr Jens Thraenhart from the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and the invited participants.
The meeting discussed challenges of GMS member countries amid COVID-19 pandemic, appropriate work plans for recovery of tourism industry in post COVID-19, implementation and amendment of the GMS Tourism Marketing Strategy and Action Plan 2015-2020, activities of Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office to promote tourism sector in the region, meetings of the TWG, cooperation in tourism among GMS countries and partner organizations and future recovery plan for this industry.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
