53 Bengalis without official documents arrested in Rakhine State

In the third week of August, 53 Bengalis without official documents were arrested in Thandwe Township of Rakhine State.
A total of 23 men and five women of Bengalis were arrested on 19 August and 16 men and nine women of Bengalis on 26 August, respectively.
They are residents of Maungtaw Township, and they paid K3.5 million for each as a brokerage fee to work in Yangon.
While they were travelling by boat, due to a storm they docked on the beach of Thandwe Township. They were detained while they hid in the nearest forest.
The action was taken against them under the Immigration Law and efforts are also being made to arrest suspected transporter and related persons. — TWA/GNLM
