75th Republic Day of India celebrated in Yangon

The 75th Republic Day of India reception event being held yesterday.

The reception ceremony commemorating the 75th Anniversary Republic Day of the Republic of India was held at the residence of the Indian Ambassador on Diplomatic Road in Dagon Township, Yangon Region, yesterday evening.
Yangon Region’s Chief Minister U Soe Thein and his wife, Lt-Gen Thet Pon from Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and his wife, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and his wife, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo and his wife, military officers, ambassadors from embassies in Yangon, chargé d’affaires, defence attachés, representatives of UN, officials and invitees attended the ceremony.
Ambassador of the Republic of India to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar, the defence attaché and officials welcomed the guests who attended the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with the playing of the anthems of both the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of India, followed by a welcome speech from the Indian Ambassador. Indian cultural troupes also performed traditional dances at the event.
The ambassador and his wife and the defence attaché hosted an honorary dinner for those who attended the ceremony. — MNA/KZW
