90-day rice price hits K1,300,000 per 100 baskets

While a price hike in the old rice, 90-day new rice hit a good price at K1,300,000 per 100 baskets, according to the farmers of the Ayeyawady Region.
When the rain-fed rice production began last year the rice price was K650,000-K700,000 per 100 baskets, but, the 90-day new rice reached K1,300,000 per 100 baskets this year.
According to the rice growers, it is the 90-day rice species which was planted in June and has a normal yield. The rice price rose as the input costs increased.
There was a small production of rain-fed rice in Kyaiklat and Maubin townships of Ayeyawady Region in August and Ayeyawady Pawsan will be yielded in Pyapon, Bogale, Labutta, Myaungmya and Pathein areas in late November and December.
This year, the price of Emahta rice is around K1,200,000-K1,300,000 per 100 baskets and fresh rice is priced at around K1 million per 100 baskets, according to rice growers and rice dealers from Bogale township of Ayeyawady Region. – TWA/GNLM
