A total of 95 Myanmar citizens landed at the Yangon International Airport yesterday morning after they were stranded in Germany.
The relief flight arranged by AIDA Cruises Company carried 89 Myanmar sailors stuck on the AIDAperla and the AIDAblu crucises docked at Hamburg city of Germany, as well as 6 Myanmar citizens who could not return home.
On arrival at the airport, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is bringing back Myanmar citizens in coordination with the relevant ministries and the embassies of respective countries in line with the directives of the National Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
Myanmar has so far repatriated 2,929 citizens who were stranded in foreign countries due to suspension of international flights amid COVID-19 pandemic. —MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
