About 310 cases of fire have been reported in the Sagaing region in 2021, causing an estimated over K3,092 million in property damage, according to the official statistic of the Sagaing Region Fire Services Department.
“The massive fire at the market has caused a great loss to shop owners in the Sagaing region. The market firefighters and securities need to follow the training, provided by the Sagaing Fire Services Department. Initially, they will be able to put out the fire. Then, they need to make the way for the fire trucks to enter the market to pull down the fire,” said U Than Htut Oo, the head director of the Sagaing Region Fire Services Department.
Most fire outbreaks were caused by arson with 201 cases. Besides, there were also 42 electric shocks, 38 negligence, 20 stove fires, six auto fires, two forest fires and one thunder fire.
“A total of 1,335 houses, two factories, 15 warehouses and one car were damaged by the fire in the Sagaing region in a year. Besides, a total of 296 men and 333 women were adversely affected by the outbreaks of fire.
