After elections, next victory must be to defeat COVID-19

With the success of the 2020 General Elections, our country overcame one of the two challenges we are facing today.
By voting, the people put candidates into office to work on their behalf. Even those who voted for other candidates deserve a government that works for them.
The post-election period brings calls for us to work together for containing, prevention and treatment on the coronavirus infection and to address other challenges such as economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 period.
Still, we are facing challenges such as economic recovery in the post- COVID-19 period and need to address them. COVID-19 will be with us for some time until a reliable vaccine is developed.
Staring from the coming weeks, we need to revitalize our efforts for winning another challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is worth noting that the fourth humanitarian assistance programme for the needy people will come this week after the Union Government suspended it last week due to the general elections.
Due to COVID-19, there are fewer employment opportunities, creating more hardships and increasing the need for people to migrate elsewhere for job opportunities, which in turn may lead to increased cases of human trafficking.
We need to put the manufacturing sector on growth trajectory to create job opportunities and to encourage economic recovery.
Meanwhile, we need to prepare to carry out an effective economic relief plan together with the people to achieve our country’s economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 period.
With the ongoing surge in coronavirus cases during the second wave of the fast-spreading virus, confirmed cases reached 62,000, with over 1,420 deaths in total yesterday.
COVID-19 is a marathon, not a sprint, and ultimately represents the larger issue of hospital preparedness and how we integrate critical aspects, such as supply chains and monitoring those who are infected.
Now is the time to motivate health workers and volunteers who have become fatigued while on the frontlines fighting the pandemic, and to continue to maintain the health guidelines in efforts to help our frontline heroes by decreasing the number of positive cases.
We would like to call upon the people to help the country achieve victory over the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recovery by maintaining their discipline and cooperation with the Union government.
