Medical supplies including medicines and equipment needed for the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 disease are sold in retail/wholesale exhibitions on Strand Road, Ahlon Township, Yangon Region, starting from yesterday.
The Department of Consumer Affairs and the Myanmar Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Association (MPMDMA) have joined to provide the necessary high quality medicines so that people can purchase them in a single place at fair prices.
Medicines in the exhibition are sold by the member companies of the MPMDMA that have been granted the Drug Importation Approval Certificate (DIAC) from the Food and Drug Administration Department.
The “Medicine Retail/Wholesale Programme” is being implemented by 30 MPMDMA member companies in 30 booths, and about 250 to 300 medicines will be available from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm, as the first step of the programme.
Depending on the demand, the programme will be extended and the information will be announced on the social media page of the MPMDM, according to the central executive member of the association.
It is reported that plans are underway to extend the second step of the programme at the Myanmar International Trade Centre in Pabedan Township within this month and information on the exact date of the exhibition will be announced in advance.
At present, the Myanmar Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Manufacturer Association (MPMDMA) has a total of 1,050 member companies.—Pwint Thitsar/GNLM
