ALI Ministry holds ground breaking event for Foot-and-Mouth Vaccine Factory in Insein, to roll out one mln vaccines per year

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation held a ground breaking ceremony at the office of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Insein Township, yesterday for a foot-and-mouth vaccine factory, launching a project for improvement of the Foot-and-Mouth Disease.
The Japanese Government has provided 1,417 million yen under the development assistance grants to construct the factory and buy laboratory equipment.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Thu, Japanese Ambassador Mr. Ichiro Maruyama, Chief Representative of JICA Mr. Masayuki Karasawa, Hluttaw representatives, Permanent Secretary Dr. Khin Zaw, Director-General Dr. Ye Tun Win and representatives from the Yamashita Sekkei CM and Takanaka Corporation.
First, Union Minister Dr. Aung Thu and Japanese Ambassador delivered opening speeches at the ceremony. Then the project director explained about the work process of the Foot-and-Mouth Vaccine Factory.
Next, the Union Minister, Japanese Ambassador, Permanent Secretary and officials-concerned performed the ritual of driving the stake into the ground where the factory would be constructed.
The vaccine factory would produce some 1,000,000 vaccines on a yearly basis using roller bottle culture method.
The vaccine factory is targeted to complete in July, 2020.

In the afternoon, Union Minister Dr. Aung Thu, accompanied by Chairman of the Hardware Committee on renovating and upgrading the Yangon University U Nyi Hla Nge, Rector of the Yangon University Dr. Pho Kaung and faculty members, observed the preparatory arrangements for the centenary celebration of the Yangon University, and officials-concerned explained about the renovation works and procedures.
