Amyotha Hluttaw debates Education Bill, a motion on rural women

The third-day meeting of the Second Amyotha Hluttaw’s 13th regular session was held at the Amyotha Hluttaw meeting hall yesterday morning. At the meeting, in addition to the question and answer session, a report was read, a bill discussed, a bill tabled and a motion discussed.

Question and Answer session
In the question and answer session, questions on plan to provide water supply for Hnaring town in Thantlang Township, Chin State; farmers in Sagaing Region Monywa District Ayadaw Township not regularly receiving irritation water from Ye Oo Myaung Ma Daw irrigation canal and a plan to repair a reservoir in Magway Region Salin Township raised by U Bwe Khane of Chin State constituency 3, U Hla Oo of Sagaing Region constituency 4 and U Win Maung of Magway Region constituency 6 were answered by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw.

Report on Rural Development Bill read
After the question and answer session, Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee member U Sai Tun Aung read the committee report on Rural Development Bill and Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker announced for Hluttaw representatives who wanted to discuss the report to register their names.

Hluttaw continues discussion on Basic Education Bill
Next, Hluttaw representatives U Soe Win of Rakhine State constituency 12, U Maung Maung Ohn of Ayeyawady Region constituency 5, U San Myint of Ayeyawady Region constituency 3, Tatmadaw representatives Maj Tin Aung Hein and Lt-Col Kyaw Kyaw Oo debated the Basic Education Bill.

Fish Breeding Bill
Afterwards, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw tabled the Fish Breeding Bill and Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee member Brig-Gen Tint Lwin read the committee report on the bill. Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker then announced for Hluttaw representatives who wanted to discuss the matter to register their names.

Motion on rural women
As a final agenda of the meeting, Hluttaw representatives U Nyi Sein of Shan State constituency 5, Dr Win Myint Chit of Bago Region constituency 8, Dr San Maung Maung of Bago Region constituency 1, U Hla Oo of Sagaing Region constituency 4, Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye of Kayin State constituency 6 and U Soe Thein of Kayah State constituency 9 discussed a motion submitted by Dr. Tin Tin Win of the Bago Region’s constituency-5 urging the Union Government to create a good environment for rural women through providing technology, capital and raw material for developing home-based industries in attempts to reduce the number of women who left abroad to get oversea jobs.
The fourth-day meeting of the Second Amyotha Hluttaw’s 13th regular session will be held on 25 July, it is learnt.
