Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker pays respects to elderly in Myawady

Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than who was in Kayin State, Myawady Town, attended a ceremony yesterday to release fish fingerlings as Jivitadana donation and later paid respects to the elderly.
The Myawady District Jivitadana fish release ceremony was held in the morning near Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge over the Thaungyin River, during which the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and wife, the Hluttaw representatives, departmental officials, and religious and social organisations released fish fingerlings into the river.
Next, the Speaker and the delegation visited the Shwe Myin Won pagoda trustee office in Myawady Town, where healthcare services were being provided to the elderly. The Speaker then attended the ceremony to pay respects to the elderly and donated cash and kind.
On behalf of the elders, 87-year-old U Tin Maung from No. 2 Ward delivered the word of thanks.
Following this, the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker cordially greeted the elderly. The day’s ceremony to pay respects was held for 202 persons aged above 85 in Myawady Town.
The Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and officials also attended a tree-planting ceremony in the compound of Deik Htan Aung Pagoda in No. 3 Ward and planted several varieties of tree saplings, including teak, padauk and mahogany, among others.
