Announcement on allowing public servants, Defence Service members and police members to import/buy vehicles

1. The following are the rules for allowing public servants, Defence Service members and police members to buy vehicles.
(a) Public servants who have achieved the badge of a good public servant and are aged over 57 on 1-10-2020 (three years before their official retirement); with the rank of Deputy Director and above: up to the rank of Permanent Secretary; will be allowed to import vehicles or to purchase vehicles at the vehicle showrooms in Myanmar. Public servants with the rank of Assistant Director and below will be allowed to purchase vehicles manufactured locally via SKD system.
(b) Those who switched from Defence Service to civil service departments in rural areas can apply for the badge of a good public servant at their relevant ministries, and only after they receive the badge, they will be allowed to import/buy vehicles.
(c) A total of 501 Defence Service officers who have achieved Good Military Service Medal and have three years left before their official retirement (who have similar ranks with civil service department’s rank of Deputy Director and above) will be allowed to import vehicles or to purchase vehicles at the vehicle showrooms in Myanmar. 4,049 Defence Service officers (who have similar ranks with civil service department’s rank of Assistant Director and below) and have achieved Good Military Service Medal and have three years left before their official retirement will be allowed to purchase vehicles manufactured locally via SKD system.
(d) A total of 126 police officers from Myanmar Police Force (who have similar ranks with civil service department’s rank of Deputy Director and above) and have achieved Good Police Service Medal and have three years left before their official retirement will be allowed to import vehicles or to purchase vehicles at the vehicle showrooms in Myanmar. 1,021 police officers (who have similar ranks with civil service department’s rank of Assistant Director and below) and have achieved Good Police Service Medal and have three years left before their official retirement will be allowed to purchase vehicles manufactured locally via SKD system.
(e) Municipal officials working in states/regions/Nay Pyi Taw Council Area who have achieved the badge of a good public servant and are aged over 57 on 1-10-2020 (three years before their official retirement); with the rank of Deputy Director and above: up to the rank of Permanent Secretary; will be allowed to import vehicles or to purchase vehicles at the vehicle showrooms in Myanmar. Municipal staff members with the rank of Assistant Director and below will be allowed to purchase vehicles manufactured locally via SKD system.
Note: The number of public servants who have achieved the badge of a good public servant and have left three years before their official retirement is just over 1 per cent of the total public servant population of 1.1 million. Similarly, only over 1 per cent of Defence Service members and police members will be allowed to import/purchase vehicles
2. The following is the amount of money to be allowed for the public servants, Defence Service members and police members to purchase vehicles.

3. Similarly, in coming years, a similar announcement will be issued to allow public servants, Defence Service members and police members who are aged over 57 to import/purchase vehicles.
