Anti-corruption awareness seminar held in Nay Pyi Taw

The Anti-Corruption Commission and Union Supreme Court jointly organized an awareness seminar on anti-corruption in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Chief Justice U Tha Htay first said that those working in government departments should know the nature of corruption. Corruption is a global problem, and Myanmar faces it as well.
The country signed the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in 2005 and became the 165th member states. He then mentioned the different types of corruption, such as bribery, extortion, fraud, misappropriation, nepotism, cronyism, appropriation of public assets and property for private gain and influence peddling.
He also urged the participants to fight against corruption as it affects the State’s image and capacity, including sustainable development goals for the country, good governance, law enforcement, and the rights of every citizen.
Afterwards, attendees coordinated the discussion. — MNA/KTZH
