Anti-Corruption Commission prosecutes officials over Ministry land deals

The Anti-Corruption Commission is taking legal action against four former officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and others involved in buying and selling property owned by the Ministry of Industry.
The former ministry officials include U Pyone Cho, current Kayin State Administrator of the General Administration Department and former Permanent Deputy Secretary, Police Lt- Col Kyaw Zeyar, Deputy Director U Kyaw Ye Tway, and U Myo Khaing, the office Staff of Sagaing District General Administration Department. Other people involved include Police Lt- Col Kyaw Zeyar, Kyaw Zeya. U Kyaw Naing Soe and U Nay Myo Htun, both of whom represented the landowner are also facing charges of bribery, impediment and blackmail.
The victims who live in Kamayut and Yankin Townships, respectively, lodged a complaint against the guilty party to the Ministry of Home Affairs, which referred the case to the Anti-Corruption Commission. The commission discovered U Pyone Cho had been using his administrative position to influence his personal agendas.
The guilty party is being prosecuted under the Anti-Corruption Law 2013, Law No.56 and the Anti-Corruption Law 2013, Law No. 56/64.
U Kyaw Ye Thway is currently on the run and is wanted under the Anti-Corruption Law 2013, Law No.56/64 Penal Code No.512 at the Yangon Region High Court yesterday.—Myanmar News Agency
