ASEAN-level youth football tournaments to be held this year

LOCAL NEWS

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFC) will resume the ASEAN Youth Football Championship this year, which has been postponed for two consecutive years due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The ASEAN Football Federation is hosting the U-16 and U-15 Women’s competitions this year but no tourneys were held in 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic.
Therefore, the ASEAN Football Federation is trying to get all the matches back this year and is planning to hold youth football matches as usual.
The U-16/U-15 youth football tournaments is scheduled to resume later this year, and if it is resumed, Myanmar youth teams will compete, football authorities said. Myanmar youth teams have been away from international competitions for two years in a row and will be rehearsed depending on the conditions of the competition.
Myanmar National Men’s Football Team, Women’s Football Team, and U-23 national team got a chance to compete in international competitions amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and the remaining Myanmar teams have yet to compete. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
