The ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) organized the Regional Webinar on “Explosive Ordnance Risk Education in ASEAN in a Time of Pandemic” on 19 May afternoon.
U Win Naing Tun, director-general of Department of Rehabilitation under the Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, joined the teleconference which was also attended by Mr Ly Panharith Executive Director of ARMAC, representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as officials from HALO Trust (Cambodia), HI (Laos), ICRC/Myanmar Red Cross Society, UNDP (Vietnam), MAG (Vietnam), UNICEF, MAG and ARMAC. They discussed measures against COVID-19 in relevant countries and conducting mine-risk education.
Director-General U Win Naing Tun held talks on ‘no one is left behind’ policy of Myanmar, coordination between the government and ethnic armed organizations and formation of work committees on mine clearance.—MNA
