ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and related meetings held in Thailand

The government of Thailand hosted the 41st Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), the 10th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM) and related meetings in Bangkok from 17 to 20 October.
Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine attended the 10th AMMDM held on 20 October.
On that morning, the leaders discussed the topic of “Stronger Together in Balancing Action to Enhance Localization for Disaster Resilience” and continued the 10th AMMDM and its related meeting. The Union Minister and party joined the events together with other ASEAN ministers and representatives.
During the meeting, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine talked about the efforts of respective countries in balancing action to enhance disaster resilience in regional countries, natural disasters occurring in Myanmar for climate changes and global warming, application of effective technology and resources for disaster resilience under the guidance of National Disaster Management Committee Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and humanitarian assistance to the dead and victims in violence.
Then, the ASEAN ministers for natural disaster management held ministerial meetings with ministers from China, Japan and Korea separately and discussed the cooperation work in natural disaster management with ASEAN and a joint statement on natural disaster management.
The associate meetings such as the 41st ACDM and its related meetings were held from 17 to 19 October, and the delegation led by Director-General Dr Ko Ko Naing of the Disaster Management Department attended the events and discussed disaster management of Myanmar, the government’s financial assistance to victims of natural disasters and man-made disasters using the budget and other work plans with ASEAN. — MNA
