ASEAN nations hold meeting on rural development, poverty eradication

The Senior Officials Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (SOMRDPE) was held via a videoconference yesterday.
The 15th meeting was led by Senior Officials Committee for the ASCC (SOCA) and Viet Nam. Director-General of Rural Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI) U Khant Zaw, in his capacity as rotating chairman of the meeting, discussed the implementation of SOMRDPE Framework Action Plan 2016-2020, its improvements and challenges, and the facts that will be added to SOMRDPE Framework Action Plan 2021-2025, and cooperation among the ASEAN sectoral bodies. He also discussed COVID-19 Economic Respond Plan, which was being implemented in Myanmar, and MoALI’s COVID-19 relief programmes. The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, officials from the ASEAN Secretary-General Office, chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of 16 sectoral bodies under the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), and representatives from ASEAN nations.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
