The 2nd workshop on Oceans and Fisheries between Southeast Asia and the Republic of Korea was held online yesterday afternoon. A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi participated in the discussion.
The workshop aimed to identify common areas of cooperation between senior officials of the participating countries to improve the marine environment and the development of sustainable fisheries sectors in the ASEAN region.

It would also expand joint fisheries management in collaboration with local fishers in inshore waters, identify fish resources conservation zones in offshore fishing, protect fish habitats for an increase in fish resources, and develop saltwater aquaculture technologies and research.
