ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee held their 23rd meeting via a videoconference on 16 June.
The meeting, chaired by Indonesia and vice-chaired by Viet Nam, was attended by ASEAN tourism businesses’ leaders, representatives from ASEAN nations, and delegates from ASEAN Secretary-General’s Office. The attendees discussed the implementations of results from 51st Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) and Mutual Recognition Arrangement on ASEAN-Tourism Professionals-MRA-TP in ASEAN nations. They also detailed recompilation of ASEAN Tourism Professionals Registration System- ATPRS, and ASEAN tourism professionals’ actions on human resources developments during COVID-19.
Deputy Director-General and officials from Myanmar’s Directorate of Hotels and Tourism were present at the meeting, discussing the reformation of National Tourism Professional Board (NTPB) and Tourism Professional Certification Board (TPCB) for implementation of ASEAN MRA-TP. They also reported on the postponement of second regional workshop, which is led by Myanmar, on skill standards for ASEAN’s tourism professionals to August. The 24th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee was scheduled to take place in Singapore in the last week of September. —MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
