A coordination meeting on making arrangements to receive Myanmar migrant workers detained and returned from other countries was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
In the meeting, Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye said the meeting was held to discuss arrangements to receive Myanmar migrant workers working in other countries. At the moment, Myanmar migrant workers were returning daily to Myawady, Kawthoung and Tachilek townships.
Among them were undocumented illegal workers, those who wish to go back to the other country, drug addicts, those who have livelihood problems or are sick, and those who have served time in prison for various crimes. For such people, relevant ministerial departments need to cooperate on arrangements with bilateral cooperation. If Myanmar citizens can work legally in other countries, it will be beneficial for both their families and the country and also support the development works, said the Union Minister.
Next, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung and officials discussed sector-wise matters to be conducted; matters to be conducted in cooperation with state/region governments; funding status; drawing up of health care programs and drug addict rehabilitation programs; and assessing, receiving and returning to their respective homes the undocumented illegal workers arrested and returned. — MNA
