Badminton star Thet Htar Thuzar to compete in Paris Olympics

Myanmar’s Badminton icon Thet Htar Thuzar will show her skills in the Paris Olympics, which will be held in July after securing qualifiers, as stated by the World Badminton Federation.
The qualifiers for the Olympics were held from 1 May 2023 to 28 April 2024, while Thet Htar Thuzar competed in the 23 games. With winning points 32,630, she seized 22nd position in the world and also qualified for the Olympic Games.
In terms of qualification, a maximum of two per country will be allowed to compete among those ranked from 1 to 16, but only one per country will be allowed to compete for those ranked after 17th.
There will be 39 players competing in the women’s singles competition of the Paris Olympics, including 32 players from the knockout stage and seven invitational and continental players.
Thet Htar Thuzar has qualified for two consecutive Olympics after qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and now competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. — Shine Htet Zaw/KZL
