Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone flooded with visitors during Christmas holidays

During the Christmas holidays in December, the famous pagodas in Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone in Mandalay Region are crowded with people, said U Htin Lin Oo, secretary of Lawkananda pagoda board of trustees.
The people visit Swetaw Thonsu, Tantkyitaung in Pakokku Township, Maha Nghatpyittaung pagoda, Hteelominlo pagoda, Ananda, Maha Bawdi, Buu, Kantawpalin, Khayminga, Thagya Pone, Shwe Late Tuu pagoda, Thabinyu pagoda, Nga Kywal Nar Gaung, Phahtoethar Myar, Shin Myar Shin, Manuha, Dhamma Yaza, Shin Izzagawna, Dhammayangyi and Sulamuni pagodas.

The Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone can lure the interest of local and foreign visitors not even during the religious significant days. During the holidays of Thadingyut, Tazaungdaing, Christmas, December school holidays, the people pay visits to ancient pagodas, religious buildings, palace walls of Bagan and the visitors also want to visit there every time. As the pagodas are not far from one another and such locations can attract visitors, said Ma San San Lwin, who visits Bagan from Yangon. There can be seen visitors in holidays as they appreciate the Bagan-NyaungU ancient cultural zone, said Daw Sein Tint, a visitor from Natmauk township.
There are more than 3,000 visitors to Bagan-NyaungU during the Christmas holidays, said U Than Myint Oo, the secretary of the board of trustees from Shwezigon Pagoda.—Ko Htein (KPD)/GNLM
