Bago Region to close factories until end-April in fight against Covid-19


Bago Region Industrial Zone Management Committee released a statement that the factories in the region will suspend its operation until 30 April in the awake of COVID-19.
Apart from those factories running for the State, other factories and workshops will be temporarily closed until April-end. The workers can receive the wages set by each factory, the committee stated.
Regarding the temporary closure of the factories, the committee has already agreed with the entrepreneurs. This action is to avoid unnecessary risks while the confirmed case already exceeds 100 in Myanmar as of the morning of 19 April, with 5 deaths and 5 recovered so far.
The region has also announced the curfew from 10 pm to 4 am starting from 18 April, under Section 144.
Bago Region government is conducting home quarantine, facility quarantine and isolation at hospitals for those Myanmar nationals who returned the region from foreign countries. —Htet Myat (Translated by Ei Myat Mon)
