Better use of natural resources for development of Rakhine State stressed

RAKHINE State, with an abundant supply of natural resources and favorable topography, will be able to see development through the better use of those resources under the vanguard of the Union government in cooperation with local people and organisations, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung told local people at a meeting in the office of Myaybon Township General Administration Department yesterday.
With the formation of a central committee led by the State Counsellor and four subcommittes, strenuous efforts will be made toward the realisation of peace, stability and development in Rakhine State, said the Union Minister.
He stressed the need of cooperation, unity and mutual trust in order to ensure national reconciliation initiated by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, calling for participation of all in efforts to develop the country.
Next, Union Minister for the Office of State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htway, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye and Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu elaborated on the measures to be prioritised to aid the development of Rakhine State.
Then, Union ministers and the chief minister visited IDP camps and attended to the needs of households there.
A meeting was held with townselders and local people in Sittwe where the Union ministers and chief minister explained the government’s plans and undertakings set to be implemented by the ministries concerned.
During their inspection tours of Rakhine State, Chief Minister U Nyi Pu presented K12 million to forty households in Kantha Htwatwa IDP camp through a local and Union Minister Dr Win Myat Aye handed over K100 million to a regional minister to aid households fleeing fighting in the region.
They also visited Thetkaipyin IDP camp in Sittwe and met with families at the camp.—Myanmar News Agency
