Admiral Moe Aung, National Security Adviser and Union Minister for the Ministry 1 of the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office and his wife, together with BIMSTEC national security chiefs and their wives, delegation members and the BIMSTEC Secretary-General, visited Maravijaya Buddha Image and Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
When they arrived at the Maravijaya Buddha Image, the world’s tallest sitting marble Buddha Image, situated in the Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the pagoda’s board of trustees explained the history and events of the Buddha Image with a recording video of the pagoda being shown.
They donated cash to the fund of the pagoda, followed by offering flowers, oil lamps, and water to the pagoda and taking a commemorative group photo. BIMSTEC delegates also observed 720 stone inscriptions in the Romanized language, and officials followed them and explained. The Union minister presented photos of the Maravijaya Buddha Image to BIMSTEC national security chiefs as unique Dhamma gifts.
Likewise, they visited Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, observed the Myanmar artworks inside the temple and donated cash for the pagoda. The pagoda’s trustees presented small Buddha statues to them.
Afterwards, they fed white elephants inside the pagoda precinct. They also visited the Myanmar Gems Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) and the National Museum. — MNA/KZL
