Broadcasting programmes must be understandable for all the people including those from rural areas: Senior General

Tatmadaw members and staff serving the information duty for the people have to correctly understand political changes in the country, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in inspecting the Tatmadaw TV Broadcasting Unit in Hmawby station yesterday morning.
Director of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun and the commandant of the Tatmadaw TV Broadcasting Unit (Hmawby) reported on functions of the Tatmadaw TV broadcasting units and Tatmadaw radio broadcasting units, programming international news and knowledgeable features, running Thazin FM on a daily basis, general requirements and improvement of Myawady Entertainment Troupe and the mini-orchestra.
The Senior General stressed the need to timely broadcast daily news, special events and internal and external news. TV and radio programmes must catch the public interest and must be educative for all.
In the meeting with Tatmadaw members and staff serving at the Tatmadaw TV Broadcasting Unit (Hmawby), the Senior General said since its establishment, the Tatmadaw TV Broadcasting Unit has been achieving success and experiences within 33 years period.

TV broadcasting needs to benefit the State and the people
Informing, entertaining and educating in correct ways can be defined as conducting organizational tasks. Hence, it is necessary to broadcast programmes accurately and the broadcasting programmes must be understandable for all the people including those from rural areas.

Media personnel have to comprehensively know Myanmar and international affairs
Tatmadaw members and staff serving the information duty for the people have to correctly understand the political changes in the country. Tatmadaw is striving for holding a free and fair election. Those from the TV broadcasting unit have to thoroughly edit news and programmes to be attractive to the people. The Senior General stressed the need to specially take care of broadcasting actual educative programmes to the audience people.

Unity in the military unit
Being media personnel, they all have to be united. All workmates are to serve duties in unison. As they came from various regions for the unit, they have to culture family spirit and brotherly spirit to have greater success in tasks.
Emergence of skilful human resources in relevant professions
They have to enhance their capacity to be qualified human resources. It is necessary to continuously train personnel to be skilful human resources. They have to efficiently use the existing machinery in broadcasting measures and maintain them for long-term existence. As those currently serving at the unit are shaping the present era, if they successfully serve their duties, they can leave good historical events.
The Senior General presented cash awards for Tatmadaw members and staff serving at the unit to the commandant and viewed the use of the OB Van (Outdoor Broadcasting Van) and the Uplink Vehicle and gave necessary guidance to officials.
The Senior General and party had lunch with Tatmadaw members and staff of the unit. During lunch, the Myawady entertainment troupe and the mini-orchestra performed entertainment.
The Senior General viewed round the studios, editing rooms and satellite control room of the unit and gave guidance on carrying out maintenance tasks in portions.

The unit was commissioned into service on 1 April 1990, and it broadcast programmes through an analogue playout system on 11 June 1993. Myawady TV was launched on the Golden Jubilee Armed Forces Day which fell on 27 March 1995. It initiated a digital playout system in 2011 and managed seven digital TV channels in 2012. The unit extended news and programme broadcasting in the English section in 2015 and started the HD system for TV channels on 27 March 2020. Tatmadaw TV broadcasting unit (Myawady TV) is standing tall as a sharp and dynamic media for the State and the Tatmadaw. — MNA/TTA
