Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Maj-Gen Phyo Thant and relevant officials, yesterday attended the cash donation ceremony for the construction of houses that the terrorists in Dhammatha village of Kyaikmaraw Township in Mon State burned down.
The event took place at the religious hall of Sasana 2500 Monastery in Mawlamyine.
During the ceremony, the chief minister talked about the comprehensive efforts in rehabilitation processes by setting up committees, relocation of villagers, assistance including food, clothing, construction materials and kitchen utensils provided by the Ministry of Border Affairs and Mon State government, security affairs, education and healthcare services and access to electricity.
He also appreciated the donation made for the Dhammatha residents.
Then, the deputy minister for Border Affairs explained the purpose of providing cash assistance.
The Mon State chief minister handed over K190 million, whereas K190 million was donated by the deputy minister, K76 million by the Mon State Security and Border Affairs minister, commodities, K104,951.280 and 380 kits containing recuse materials by the Disaster Management Department, K100 million for the cost of CI sheets by donor U Hla Tun and K220,28,500 for CI sheets by other donors and departmental officials.
Peace mediator Sayadaws also expressed gratitude for donations, and the State chief minister and deputy minister cordially greeted the Dhammatha villagers. — Mawlamyine IPRD/KTZH
