CBM Governor attends AMRO’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Event

The ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) hosted AMRO’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Event through a videoconference yesterday afternoon.
Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Than Nyein, Deputy Governors U Win Thaw and Daw Than Than Swe and officials from the Central Bank of Myanmar attended the event.
Finance Ministers and Deputy Ministers from ASEAN + 3 Member States, Central Bank Governors and Deputy Governors, representatives from invited organizations and universities, director, and deputy directors from ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office, economists and staff also joined the event.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office, the Director of the ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office Mr Doi Toshinori gave an opening speech and H.E Rajah Indranee, Minister of Finance and National Development and Office of the Prime Minister of Singapore delivered a keynote speech.
The Minister of Economy and Finance of Brunei Darussalam and the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Korea, Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the Indonesian Minister of Finance delivered video messages.
Then, the annual ceremony was held with two programmes.
In the programme (1) under the title: Trauma to Triumph: Rising from the Ashes of the Asian Financial Crisis, AMRO economist Mr Khor Hoe Ee acted as moderator and former Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Thailand, Central Bank of the Philippines and the Central Bank of Indonesia, Monetary Authority of Singapore and Honorary Professor from the University of Tokyo joined the discussion.
The second programme of the seminar was organized by the Office of ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research (AMRO) and The Decade Ahead: AMRO and Regional Financial Cooperation. Executive Director from European Stability Mechanism, Chief Representative of BIS (Bank for International Settlements) Asia-Pacific and Director of ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office participated in the discussion and presenter of CNA Mediacorp Ms Avril Hong acted as Moderator.
Officials discussed ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office to monitor and report on the macroeconomic situation and financial strength of ASEAN + 3 member countries, potential for macroeconomic and financial difficulties in ASEAN + 3 member countries and help to formulate policy recommendations promptly so as to minimize such risks.
The Chiang Mai Programme was established in 2011 to assist member countries in enforcing their loan obligations as long as they are obliged to repay their loans under a multilateral participation agreement under the Chiang Mai Agreement.— MNA
