Central Body for Suppression of Trafficking in Persons holds its 1/2022 meeting

The 1/2022 meeting of the Central Body for Suppression of Trafficking in Persons is in progress yesterday.

Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut, in his capacity as Chairman of the Central Body for Suppression of Trafficking in Persons addressed the 1/2022 meeting of the central body in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, the SAC member Union Minister said there should be a proper departmental communication system for human trafficking suppression, prevention and preparation activities focusing on the Five-Year National Plan of Action to Combat Human Trafficking.
He then highlighted the purpose of meeting and the need to look at what are the current forms of human trafficking, the relation between political, social, economic and trafficking, the reasons for the occurrence of trafficking against poverty, economic vulnerability and social standards and victim recruitment of traffickers using modern technologies.
He also continued that it can uncover human trafficking using online and electronic systems under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law’s Section 29 enacted on 16 June 2022. All should participate in conducting prescriptions of international and regional agreements, decisions of conferences and meetings.
In the 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report of the US, Myanmar is a Tier-3 ranking with 13 recommendations which are being carried out in Myanmar. The report does not reflect the real situation of the country. Therefore, there would be key decisions at the meeting.
Then, the chairpersons and members of the Working Group on Prevention of Trafficking in Persons and Protection of Trafficked Victims, Working Group on Legal Affairs and Prosecution, Working Committee on Repatriation, Reintegration and Rehabilitation of victims of trafficking, the chairpersons and officials of the region and state anti-trafficking task forces reported on their respective sectors for anti-trafficking activities.
