Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands holds 2nd coordination meeting

It is necessary to pay attention to not only food security but also nutrition by using different climate conditions of each region and state to effectively produce a wide range of agricultural products, said Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo at the 2nd coordination meeting of the Central Committee for Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands, held yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Than Aung Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi, the Permanent Secretary and officials. And members of the committee joined the meeting via videoconferencing.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the licence applications for vacant, fallow and virgin lands, comments from the respective ministries, work progress submitted by the committees in states and regions, feedback on land tax exemption period and the tax rate, and the land tax payment of those who have been granted the right to use and the status of land tax arrears.
The Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands held its second meeting under the State Administration Council in order to enable agriculture and livestock farming to be carried out before the season and to implement regional development, religious and social activities for the benefit of the people without delay. – MNA
