Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing sent a video message as an opening address to the 2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting-2nd ADGMIN hosted by Myanmar through videoconferencing yesterday morning.
The opening ceremony was held with the national anthem of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the ASEAN song.
The Senior General delivered an opening address by sending a video message to the meeting.

Deputy General Secretary Madam Mastura Ahmad Mustafa, on behalf of the Malaysian Minister of Communications and Multimedia who took chairmanship for 2021 gave an opening address. Union Minister Admiral Tin Aung San, who takes the current chair, extended greetings. ASEAN digital ministers discussed guidance for implementation of the outcomes from the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits held on 26 October 2021 and meeting participants from relevant countries, the ASEAN Secretary-General and officials exchanged views on matters related to the theme of the second meeting “Digital Transformation: the Engine for ASEAN Economic Recovery from COVID-19”.
The first-day session of the meeting focused on approval for progress in implementation of the projects of the ICT sector in 2021, discussions and approval to implement the projects of the ASEAN Digital Senior Officials’ Meeting-ADGSOM and the ASEAN Telecommunication Regulators’ Council Meeting-ATRC, discussions on tasks done and to be done with dialogue partner countries, putting the Nay Pyi Taw Declaration on record, and approval for the joint media statement of the second ministers’ meeting.
The ASEAN has convened the Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers’ Meeting-TELMIN 19 times starting from 2001. As of 2020, the meeting was renamed as ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting-ADGMIN. Alphabetically, Myanmar in its term hosted the 11th meeting in Nay Pyi Taw in 2011 and this meeting was the second time.
Today’s meeting recognized the important role of the digital reform process in the comprehensive development of the ASEAN economy and aimed to lessen the economic and social impacts in infection of COVID-19 in the region, discuss the implementation of the project of the ASEAN Digital Strategy 2025 and regional digital cooperation measures and effectively implement the digital reform process approved by the 20th ASEAN Economic Community Council-AECC.
The second-day session of the meeting will continue on 28 January. — MNA
