Chaungwa bridge project completes 76% ensuring beach tourism development, socioeconomic progress

The construction of the Chaungwa Bridge, which will connect Ngayokkaung Town and Kywaychaing village in Ngaputaw Township, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region, is now 76 per cent complete.
When completed, the bridge will ensure the beach tourism development and the socioeconomic lives of residents.
Construction of 120 feet long bridge started on 1 March 2020 using bored piles for the foundation, RC concrete for the bridge body and PC girder/RC slab for the upper body part of the bridge. The width of the bridge is a total of 24 feet. The waterway clearance of the bridge is 78.744 feet in width and 40 feet in height.
“We construct the bridge crossing the Chaungwa River on the Ngayokkaung-Goyangyi Island Road. Upon completion, it will benefit over 40,000 residents of Kywaychaing, Nathaphu, Natmaw, Yaykyaw, Thephyu, Kanchayoo, Kwinbat, Moetahmyin and Sabagyi villages. Locals can easily get the Ngayokkaung station hospital for health services. Local products can be also easily transported and so the bridge will be a key route for the region and locals,” said an official of Special Bridge Task Force 16 of the Ministry of Construction.
Domestic and international travellers can visit Goyangyi Island more easily than before in a short time. It can also develop the tourism industry of that region and create jobs for locals. Moreover, the people can easily go to Pathien using the Ngayokkaung-Sinma-Ngwesaung Road and to Rakhine State via the Ngayokkaung-Sinma-Ngwesaung-Chaungtha-Shwethaungyan-Makyeebin-Kyaukchun-Gwa Beach Ring Road.
