Children Literary Festival to be held in Mawlamyine

Union Minister Dr Pe Myint addresses coordination meeting on organizing Children’s Literary Fair in Mawlamyine.

Dr Pe Myint, Union Minister for Information, attended a coordination meeting on organising a Children’s Literary Festival in Mawlamyine yesterday morning.
The meeting took place at Mon State Government office, Aung San Hall with Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan, Regional Ministers, Departmental Officials and responsible people in attendance.
In the meeting Dr. Pe Myint explained that it is the duty of the Ministry of Information to disseminate information, which includes spreading education and entertainment. It is important that a literary fair for children is organised so that children can develop a fondness for literature and receive exposure at an early age and develop a habit for reading. He also urged other government organisations and departments to help improve the best of their capabilities in this endeavour.
Mon State Minister for Social Affairs Dr Htein Lin said the Regional Government is assisting the formulation of this children’s festival in nurturing children’s knowledge and intellectual understanding of literature.
Afterwards, Director-General of Information and Public Relations Department U Maung Pe described the arrangements of the children’s fair taking place in Mawlamyine University’s great hall and discussed the requirements and gave advice to each department concerned.
The Union Minister then visited the District Information and Public Relations Department and viewed the books on display then instructed the staff to work harder so that its citizens recognise the workings of the department.
The Union Minister then visited the Mawlamyine Television Retransmission Station and conversed with the in-charge and staff from the station, urging them to try to improve their capacity and attended to the needs.
At 12 noon, the Union Minster visted the Sub-printing house (Mawlamyine) and met with staff members in the meeting hall and heard reports on organizational structure and work processes of the sub-printing house presented by the in-charge U Zaw Zin San.
The Union Minister then travelled to Mawlamyine University in the evening and toured the area where the Children’s Literary Festival will take place and discussed with Department officials, city elders and members of organisations on successfully promoting the children’s fair.
