Chindwin bridge (Htamanthi) construction project completed 12%

The project was launched with K2 billion of the Union budget in the 2020-21 financial year. And the Bridge Department’s Construction Team (2) is taking responsibility for building Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) project in Homalin Township.

The construction of Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) was completed 12 per cent in Homalin township of Khamti District in upstream Chindwin area of Sagaing Region, said U Aung Thiha, a director (Civil) of Bridge Department’s Construction Team (2), the Ministry of Construction.
The construction project has started on 19 January 2021 and completed by 12 per cent so far.
“This year’s budget is for onshore foundation projects. We have completed only 12 per cent of the project with this year’s budget. So far, about 95 per cent of all funding has been implemented. The current bridge project is being implemented with a Union budget. We will try to complete the whole bridge project depending upon the funding available,” said U Aung Thiha.

“The bridge is being built to link the Naga area to the mainland of the country. Upon completion of the project, local people will have easy access to the mainland of the country.
The bridge will accomplish the basic requirement of the local people for regional development and transportation,” he added.
The Chindwin Bridge (Htamanthi) is being constructed between Htamanthi and Yinma village. The completion of the project is based on the availability of government funds.
The construction of the bridge will be 802 metres long and 9.4 metres wide.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be about K33 billion. — Lulay/GNLM
