Choy sum grown in Mandalay green vegetables market has received many orders from Yangon Region.

Choy sum has health benefits and can provide Vitamin A, B and fibre, Calcium and Iron if it is eaten after being fried.

“In Mandalay, price of choy sum is fixed by plantation owners and it has quite declined now. There is no buyer from upper Myanmar but Mandalay and Yangon. Most of orders are placed from Yangon,” said choy sum grower and seller from Mandalay.

Choy sum is being used in Hotpot and Mu kratha restaurants and it is one of the most consumed vegetables in Myanmar.

“It is mostly used in Hotpot and Mu kratha restaurants. The trade was dull in previous months. Many people enjoy it,” he said.
