Citizens have rights to manage underground and aboveground natural resources: Senior General

Relevant ministries need to encourage the emergence of qualified human resources for the State, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in inspecting the No 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) under the No 1 Heavy Industries Enterprise of the Ministry of Industry near Pinngo Village of Pinpet region of Taunggyi Township yesterday morning.
Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than and Deputy Minister U Yin Maung Nyunt reported on the resumption of the No 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) Project on 4 October 2021 in accord with the guidance of the Senior General during his inspection tour in 2021, work procedures for to be implemented for the resumption of the project, the progress of the project and repairing of damaged parts, inspections of the technical inspection team, and implementation of the project.

Chairman of Myanmar Economic Corporation Lt-Gen Nyo Saw and Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi reported on the task being done by process engineers from MEC and Tyazhpromexport (TPE) of Russia, inspections of all machinery at workshops, repairing, substitution and installation, needs of iron ore for the project, and volume of excavation of industrial raw minerals.
In his response, the Senior General that it is necessary to control the extraction of underground natural resources and use them in necessary places beneficial for the State. Citizens have the right to manage underground and aboveground natural resources. Relevant ministries need to encourage the emergence of qualified human resources for the State. It is necessary to systematically implement the projects with farsightedness. As the steel mill uses the world’s first-ever Romelt technology, all need to emphasize the work procedures in continuous production and arrange the manufacturing process among workshops. The Senior General stressed the need to set the inspection records of the third party.
The Senior General inspected production processes and fulfilled the needs reported by officials.
Myanmar Economic Corporation in cooperation with Tyazhpromexport (TPE) of the Russian Federation started the implementation of the mill project on 5 September 2006 and handed it over to the Industry on 1 October 2012. The project was suspended on 15 March 2017. The Senior General on his inspection tour on 1 October 2021 gave guidance that it is necessary to successfully implement the steel manufacturing project as the country faced steel requirements. So, the project resumed on 4 October. So far, 19 of 22 workshops have been conducted test-running without loads. — MNA/TTA
