CNG gas distributed to YBS buses as usual

The CNG is distributed as usual for YBS buses, according to the CNG Department. “Some said the Zawtika gas pipeline burst. We queued up since yesterday and we got gas at dawn,” said YBS driver Ko Win Htut.
The gas pipeline in the deep seaport burst on 22 July and the CNG-fuelled taxis and buses waited for hours to fill up at CNG filling stations in Yangon. On the evening of 22 July, the YBS did not run as they could not fill up CNG and so the social welfare teams provided vehicles to the flock of passengers at bus stops.
“A fertilizer factory that runs using CNG in Nyaungtone-Maubin suspends its operation today and we distribute gas to CNG filling stations in Yangon,” said an official of the department.
It can take one week to repair the pipeline. There will be fewer YBS buses for several days as the stations in Yangon do not have enough gas, and for unpure CNG gas, according to YBS drivers.
“I did not see so many buses at the bus stop this morning. The buses run every five or 10 minutes. There would be few buses as they do not get gas today,” said Ko Myo Oo from Thingangyun township. The YBS companies also announced that they will reduce the number of buses due to CNG shortages. The number of YBSs between 2,700 and 2,800 are in operation daily in Yangon Region and it distributes 16 million cubic feet of natural gas for these buses. — TWA/GNLM
