Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a call from Mr Yang Jiechi, the member of Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. The call was also attended by Deputy Commander–in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win, senior Tatmadaw officers, senior Chinese officials and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai.
At the meeting, they discussed increasing promotion of fraternal and bilateral relations which have entered the 70th anniversary, the consistent implementation of mutual agreements made during the official visit of Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping in January this year, medicines and medical supplies of Myanmar Tatmadaw to China during the initial period of COVID-19, and sending medical experts of Communist Party of China and the People’s Liberation Army to Myanmar to exchange knowledge on COVID-19 control while providing medical assistance.
The report from the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services said that the meeting also focussed on exchange of information between the two militaries on border security, peace, stability, rule of law and anti-narcotic efforts; promoting coordination between border guard forces and administrative organizations along the border, the importance of signing nationwide ceasefire agreement for lasting peace, more effective activities of Tatmadaw in COVID-19 control measures, suspension of military activities except at the operation areas of armed groups declared by the government as terrorist groups until 30 September, successful holding of free and fair November 8 elections, establishment of stronger friendly “Phauk Phaw” relations through close relations and increasing cooperation.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
