Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, at Zayathiri Beikman here on Thursday.
At the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that he has expected Myanmar-Thai armed forces can cement bilateral relations, and Thai government could ensure peace, stability and development in political process in line with the aspiration of Thai people.
The Commander-in-Chief also assured Myanmar will sustain
cooperation with the
kingdom in fight against illegal drug trafficking, as well as in border issues, expressing gratitude for the efforts of Thai government in helping Myanmar migrant workers in their country.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing called for justice in the case of Koh Tao murder case in which two Myanmar migrant workers are being arrested as the suspects. He also said that it is important that ‘many guilty persons should escape unpunished, than one innocent person should suffer,’ as he sought the help of Thai government to special investigation team of Myanmar embassy in Thailand freely and transparently.
Myanmar military chief also agreed to exchange information to prevent the threats of extremists, promising to establish historic ties during the terms of both governments.
General Tanasak Patimapragorn expressed his appreciation on better relations between the two countries, and granted justice in the murder case of British couple.
Senior officials from both sides also discussed border trade and plans on prevention of narcotic drug trafficking.
